What Is Dermal Filler Removal?
At Secret Skin Aesthetics, we know how distressing it can be when the results of your dermal filler treatment aren't as you expected them to be. Migration, lumpy and uneven texture can impact your confidence, and even lead to pain and discomfort. But using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase, we can break down previously injected fillers that you've received elsewhere.
This treatment - otherwise referred to as dermal filler dissolving - will speed up the degradation of filler, allowing it to be absorbed by your body and eventually eliminated.

In our warm and welcoming medical aesthetics clinic near Basingstoke, Nurse Louise can administer the treatment for -

- Dermal filler that has migrated.
- Areas of the face that have been overfilled.
- Lumps, unevenness and asymmetrical results.
- Late allergic reactions including swelling.
The Dermal Filler Removal Process
At a bespoke consultation, Nurse Louise and Emily will assess the treatment area to determine where the filler needs to be dissolved. They'll take you through the filler removal process, and explain that you may experience pain throughout.

As there is a chance of an allergic reaction to Hyaluronidase, we'll inject a small amount of the enzyme into your arm for a patch test. We'll ask you to wait at the clinic whilst the Hyaluronidase enters your system. As long as there is no allergic reaction, we'll go ahead with your treatment.

During the removal session, we'll inject the Hyaluronidase enzyme into the decided areas. We can apply numbing cream if necessary.

Following the treatment, the area will swell. However, you can expect to see results within 3 to 7 days.

We'll then advise on a follow-up course of treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Does Dermal Filler Removal Take To Work?
You may experience swelling following your dermal filler dissolving treatment - however, there is no cause for concern. This means that the Hyaluronidase enzyme is working, and results can be expected to follow within 3 to 7 days. As Hyaluronidase keeps working for 14 days, we'd advise you to wait 2 weeks to experience the full results.
How Soon After Can I Get More Dermal Filler?
We'd advise you to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before getting the dermal filler re-injected. This will give the Hyaluronidase enzyme time to dissolve the old filler completely.
Who Is Dermal Filler Removal Suitable For?
Dermal filler dissolving is suitable for anybody who is unhappy with a previous dermal filler treatment. It can be used to address migration, lumpy and uneven texture.
How Should I Prepare For My Dermal Filler Removal Treatment?
Before your treatment at our Hartley Wintney clinic, you must avoid blood-thinning medications and alcohol. It’s also important that you arrive make-up free. Nurse Louise will provide you with personalised pre-treatment instructions during your consultation.
Will The Filler Be Dissolved After One Session?
Depending on the type of dermal filler used, you may need more than one session for complete removal. Lips can often be dissolved in one session, however, filler used for the cheek, chin and jawline may require two to three sessions.
Is Dermal Filler Removal Painful?
Removal can cause more discomfort than dermal filler itself. However, we can numb the area before your treatment to ensure that you're comfortable and pain-free.

How Much Does Dermal Filler Removal Cost?
At Secret Skin Aesthetics, dermal filler removal is priced per treatment from £200.
