Microneedling

Stimulate the production of collagen to achieve healthy, youthful skin in our Hartley Wintney clinic.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-invasive facial treatment that promotes skin regeneration. It uses a device with tiny, sterile needles to create controlled punctures in the skin. These needles stimulate the body's natural healing processes, producing collagen and elastin - the essential building blocks for healthy, youthful skin.

These tiny punctures are so small that they cause minimal discomfort. When the skin is healed, you'll notice improved skin texture, firmness and overall tone.

Whether you're looking to reduce the appearance of scars, wrinkles or uneven skin texture, Microneedling at Secret Skin Aesthetics is a varied treatment that can help.

What Can Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling is one of our most diverse treatments at Secret Skin Aesthetics.

Commonly, it's used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen and elastin, leading to the development of wrinkles and sagging skin. Microneedling helps to reverse this process by stimulating collagen.

Microneedling is also used to treat acne scars. Acne can leave deep scars that are difficult to treat with topical creams alone. Microneedling helps to break down scar tissue and promote the growth of new skin cells, leading to a more even skin texture over time.

Likewise, the treatment is used for hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Whether you’re dealing with dark spots from sun damage, melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, Microneedling can help to fade these areas by promoting skin cell turnover.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does Microneedling Take To Work?

Results are typically noticeable within a few days as your skin begins to heal and regenerate. However, the most significant improvements, like reduced fine lines, smoother texture and faded scars, usually start to appear after about 4 to 6 weeks. This is because it takes time for your body to produce new collagen and for the skin to fully remodel.

How Long Will The Effects Of My Microneedling Last?

The effects of Microneedling can last several months, depending on your skin type, the condition being treated and how well you care for your skin afterward. Generally, the collagen boost you get from Microneedling will continue to benefit your skin for 3 to 6 months after your treatment. To maintain results, Nurse Louise recommends regular maintenance sessions, usually every 3 to 6 months.

Who Is Microneedling Suitable For?

Microneedling is a great option for those looking to address fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, large pores, stretch marks or uneven skin tone. Since Microneedling is non-invasive and doesn’t involve harsh chemicals, it’s also a good choice for those with sensitive skin. However, if you have active skin infections, or severe acne, Nurse Louise may recommend an alternative treatment.

How Should I Prepare For My Microneedling Treatment?

To get the best results from your Microneedling treatment, it’s important to prepare your skin properly. A few days before your session, avoid using any harsh skincare products like retinoids, exfoliants or acids, as these can make your skin more sensitive. You should also avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily to protect your skin. On the day of your treatment, come with clean skin, free of makeup.

Is Microneedling Safe?

Absolutely! At Secret Skin Aesthetics, we use sterile, single-use needles and maintain the highest standards of hygiene to minimise any risk of infection or complications. Whilst you might experience some redness and mild swelling after the treatment, these side effects typically subside within a few days.
